Julian Opie

Julian opie was born in 1958, in london, julian opie is best known for the word he did for the best of blur album cover, julian opies style tends to be bold outlines and flat colours to make up images of faces, the best of blue album cover was the first chance he had to get his style out there and since then he has been known for using that type of style. In 2006 he did work with U2 during there vertigo world tour he displayed his LED display peice of the aimless walking man.

This image above is an image of the LED display of the aimless walking man, as you can see this peice is very simple , simple outlines but u can clearly see that it is a figure of a person just walking, in my personal opinion i do like this peice but i feel it is way to simple, anybody could do it, but i supose its originality that won this peice over.

This is an image of blurs, best of album cover that opie did, as u can see again it is the simple approuch to the human facial form, plain mat colours broken down into simple sections to make a cartoon like aperience, using first and secondry colours, i feel it works really well, and julian held onto this style and made it a very big things, it is very original which i like, but in a way it is a bit to simple for my liking.
I dont think julian opie has a directed certain target audience for his work, i feel it is directed at everyone who can apreciate a good peice of work, its was all about getting his style out there which he managed to do.
Julian opie used many form of madterials to express his work, including the two i have mentioned in this post, LED effects and computer graphics, he also makes sculptures which are simular to his LED display here is an example of one of his sculptures below.

I do like this sculpture it really stands out , i like the plain bright colours and the simplicity, i think it looks better than when its on LED screen or an image, it stands out more makes a biggr statement, i have to admit i have been won over by this peice in term of julians style of simplicity, i do like this peice, i feel it will target younger audiences as it is very modern looking and using first and secondry colours kids would probily enjoy the peice aswell .

Beano has a very old school style it has been around since around the 1930s, this comic is very much a british comic and uses alot of british houmer, this style of comic is still goin know this comic is just full of little comic strips about different short stories.
Beano isnt really about anything is more of a comic filled with lots of different comic strips like dandy and denis the menis, so its a book full of little short storys it is a very houmerious comic.

Photography Investigation

John Heartfield, a versatile and prolific artist, was born Helmut Herzfelde in Berlin in 1891. At the tender age of seven he lost both parents. In 1905-06 he served an apprenticeship as a bookseller in Wiesbaden before going to Munich to study at the "Kunstgewerbeschule" from 1908 to 1911. After a brief interval as a graphic artist in Mannheim, Helmut Herzfelde returned to Berlin. There he studied once again, at the "Kunst- und Handwerkerschule", until 1914, when the first world war broke out. In 1915-16 he was inducted for active service into the German armed forces. In 1916 Helmut Herzfelde was so incensed at the anti-British feeling in Germany that he protested by changing his name to John Heartfield, using this pseudonym for the rest of his career. That same year, 1916, John Heartfield and his brother founded the Malik Verlag publishing house in Berlin; John Heartfield was responsible for the graphics for its publications.
In 1917 John Heartfield became a follower of the Dada movement in Berlin and that same year he joined the German Communist Party (KPD). He met George Grosz, who, like Heartfield, worked for the leftwing satirical publications "Die Pleite" and "Der Knüppel".
From 1924 to 1933 John Heartfield designed illustrations for the "Arbeiter Illustrierte Zeitung", the Communist Party mouthpiece.
John Heartfield developed an experimental approach to the graphic arts. He often worked with photomontage, using the medium to create pictures that made extraordinarily powerful statements. Under the influence of George Grosz, John Heartfield went on from there to develop the political photomontage. From 1920 John Heartfield designed his first stage sets for Erwin Piscator and Max Reinhardt. In 1929 Heartfield contributed photomontages to Kurt Tucholsky's "Deutschland, Deutschland über alles".
In 1933 John Heartfield went into exile in Prague. In 1938 he reached London, where among other things he designed book covers for Penguin Books. Returning to Germany in 1950, John Heartfield designed stage sets, working for Bertold Brecht and other directors.

Anna Atkins was a botanist, and one of the earliest woman photographers. In 1841 she came into contact with Fox Talbot, one of her father's friends. As a botanist, she quickly saw the potential of using photography to record specimens. Her father was an eminent scientist who had various senior posts at the newly created British Museum; many of Anna's scientifically accurate drawings are in the British Museum.

Anna lived in a time when women were not encouraged to become involved in science. Botany, however, was a more acceptable area.
She chose the Cyanotype process for her work - an appropriate choice, because it was comparatively inexpensive and easy to work with, and its only disadvantage, a blue image, was immaterial. This process, though she was not to know it at the time, was far more permanent than other processes, and much of her work still survives now.
In October 1843 Anna Atkins became the first person to print and publish a book, photographically illustrated with 424 pictures. Called "British Algae: Cyanotype Impressions", this book which was issued in several parts over a period of ten years. Her book, therefore, even precedes Fox Talbot's "Pencil of Nature." Though she had a camera, she relied entirely on photograms (known, at the time, as Shadowgraphs).
A discovery of one of the very few copies of her book attracted considerable interest in June 1996, when it was put up for auction.

Need for Speed - Hot Pursuit Review

Need for Speed Hot Pursuit is not a new title for a nfs game, in 2002 need for speed 3 hot pursuit was released by the producers of need for speed , EA black box, this game was simular to the new Hot Pursuit games in the way of you coule play the police, but it was often critisised over the fact that it was more unrealistic than the pervious need for speed games, The new nfs hot pursuit is a shot at that again but this time due to the resent flops of need for speed games they desided to ask the help of criteron producers of burnout and for them to put there own little spin on the game.

Il start my review by talking about the title of the game the tital hot pursuit i feel is a great title for the game , although it is not an original name i still feel it has the right to give itself that name, wilst playing it you do get a sence of adrenalin and sometimes frustration, soem races can get heated if you get into it, also with the ability to race people from all aroung the world that can get very heated as sometimes dirty tactics will come into play while racing, and pursuit can cover pretty much the whole game your either playing the racer getting pursued or playing the police doing the persuing so in that way the tital is very fitting with the game.
This Game is about being eaither a racer or the police in race situations for you, either the racer trying to win races and escape capture of the police to move on and gain bounty in order to unlock cars and equipment and new race tracks, and you can also be the police where during the race you have to arrest all of the racers befor the end of the race, to get more bounty to again unlock other police cars and equipment used to stop the racers.

Id say there wasnt many weanesses with this game , but one i picked up on was the fact that you cant do up your cars in the way of paint jobs and body kits the good thing about the past need for speed games was that you could unlock body kits vinals and different things to add to your car i feel if that feature was added to the game then it would be great but the fact it lacks it takes away that bita the game that most people would miss when playing this game. Another weakness is there is no real story line like in the most wanted game for example where you climed a blacklist winning oponants cars to finaly get to the top and win you old car back that you lost at the begining of the game due to the other site puting a whole in your oil tank, i feel if this game had more of a story line then people may get into it alot easyer but in the same way i feel the overall game play makes up for it another weakness is the fact that the race will freeze for a moment to show you a crash or a police car that about to come into the race and in some situation coming up to a corner whitch can be quit off putting and puts you back into the race facing a corner or raming right in behind a civilian car which could lose you the race.

The strenths of this game is the graphics and the way you play the game, the ability to drift around corners is given to you in the easyest way posible and you get a sence of pride of how you went around that corner over taking oponants, another strenth is the ability to play online against people from all around the world getting in races and evan playing 1 on 1 games taking in turns to be the police and the racers using your own taktics and skills to beat other players and win more bounty to win cars ect, the main strenths is being able to play the police and not only having standerd police cars but you have hyper cars sooted up to be police cars for example the bugatti veyron in this image below.

My over all review of this game is id give it a 9/10 the reason it is not a 10 is that you cant do up your cars i feel if you could do that then the game would deffinatly make a 10/10, but still i very much enjoyed playing this game you really get into it and you can really get a feeling of being heated and frustrated and police cars trying to batter you down or a racer get evading you car by an inch as you try to ram it off the road, i would deffinatly recomend this game to my friend whitch i have done and two of them have already gone out and bought the game, as they felt the same feeling for the game as i did, the heated excitable thrill you get from playing this game is emence , and at the same time they have managed to level it out with races without police involment so its just pure head to head racing, i felt this game wasnt to easy but wasnt to hard they have made it a great level so that you may just make it by a wisker or you could jsut miss out by a wisker so it really make you play it again and again to make up that 1 second that you missed out by befor, so this game is not to easy but not so hard that you give up and put the game away.

Photography

Photography is the art of capturing a moment and freesing it in time using a imagry format of recording. The first permanent photograph was an image produced in 1826 by the fench inventor joseph nicephore niepce. His photographs were produced on a polished pewter plate covered with a petrolium derivative called bitument of Judea. Bitumen hardens with exposure to light. The unhardened material may then be washed away and the metal plate polished, rendering a negative image which then may be coated with ink and impressed upon paper, producing a print. Niépce then began experimenting with iron compounds based on a johann heinrich schultz discovery in 1724 that a iron and chalk mixture darkens when exposed to light.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_photography

Photography developed on from there and is now used everyday, times around the 1960s most of the posher population had one so photographers were far and few between, then they used flash bulbs which flashed once and then burnt out, but nower days we have strobe lighting which can flash as many times as you like. all photography befor the 1940s all photos were black and white, but now most photography is done in colour and can then be converted into black and white, film phototography has been largly faided out and replaced by digital photography, although it is still about, but digital photography is alot more quicker to use and photos can be edited very easily.
